Philip K Dick has had an enormous influence in the science fiction field, both in the traditional outlets of novel and short story writing, as well as in other medium such as film.

Most notably, Dick is the inspiration for the annual Philip K Dick award, a prestigious science fiction award given to one novel every year.

He is also arguably an influence on the genre of cyberpunk, although William Gibson has denied that his work is heavily influenced by Dick.

Several science fiction films are direct adaptations of his work, and many more are influenced by him to varying degrees.
